PROS AND CONS:

The Midea 16-Bottle Wine Cooler is built with the customer in mind, to deliver quality and value. This is a small wine refrigerator that uses a compressor for cooling, as opposed to a thermoelectric one. In climates like California, it can be quite warm for weeks on end in the summer, so a compressor fridge is a good option, as thermoelectric units are not intended for use in very warm places.

Set to “normal,” the Midea 16-Bottle Wine Cooler in a garage keeps wine perfectly chilled at a steady 56-58 degrees Fahrenheit. According to the manual, the “maximum” setting is 2-8 degrees Celsius (36-48 degrees Fahrenheit); “normal” is 8-15 degrees Celsius (46-59 degrees Fahrenheit), and “minimum” is 15-21 degrees Celsius (59-70 degrees Fahrenheit). The down side of this is that you can’t set it to a specific temperature setting – only one of the three options as stated.

Although this model is advertised as able to hold 16 wine bottles, it actually has designated slots for only ten, although you may be able to fit two or three more lying on their sides at the bottom of the fridge. The small “half-shelf” is good for beer cans or soda bottles.

This item has no light. The smoked glass appears black in low-lit rooms, not translucent. In all but the brightest-lit rooms, the contents of the Midea 16-Bottle Wine Cooler are hard to see, even with the door open. This means the consumer has to remove things from the cooler to see exactly what they are – a real inconvenience.

If you’re looking for a wine cooler that has a light on the interior, you may want to check out the HOMEIMAGE DUAL-ZONE Thermo Electric Wine Cooler for 18 Bottles which offers this feature.
